Outside weddings can be A LOT of work for the engaged couple and extended family members but they are so worth it come the big day. One of my favorite venues is Bourne Farm in Falmouth on Cape Cod. An antique barn sited on a historical farm and bird sanctuary makes the perfect backdrop for nature lovers and couples who want a more relaxed feeling to their wedding day. I was so excited to design for a wedding there in early June. I don't have the professional images back yet but I do have a few of my own I'm excited to share with you just in case you're looking for that dream outdoor venue for 2019.
The wedding party waiting while the " first look " is happening inside the barn!
This couple chose to say, I do, under the big oak tree on the path near the stone walls. We marked the entrance to the ceremony site with wooden crates, rustic lanterns and swags of beautiful greens with a touch of blush flowers and ribbon.
An eclectic mix of lanterns lined the seating area in a random pattern for a less formal feel. This colorful color pallet popped off of the acres of surrounding greenery in the fields and tree line. Definitely creating a happy vibe for all.
I love helping couples include meaningful persoanl touches into their wedding flowers. The bride and her mother provided me with the grandmother's cherished milk glass collection for the centerpieces which added something extra special to their over all day.
Nothing beats in season flowers and in June that means peonies. They are more expensive per stem to use so be prepared to pay premium dollars for them.
If you want to make a statement with flowers these voluptuous blooms will do it and more! I've paired them with some other spring favorites such as queen annes lace, ranuculas, astilbe, scabiosa, ruscus, silver dollar eucalyptus, and nigella for an organic, fresh-picked garden inspired style.
We are headed back there in July for another beautiful wedding!
